The Mercedes-Benz M-Class (or Mercedes-Benz ML-Class) is a mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV), the model was introduced in 1997, 1998, and was built by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz. Gradually, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class became a sales success in the United States and Mexico. Increasingly, it is slotted between the smaller Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (based on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class) and the larger Mercedes-Benz M-Class with which it shares platforms. For a brief time, between 1999 and 2002, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, the European market, in the presence of all production moved to the US plant near Vance, Alabama. Since late 2012, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and gathered new plants in Pune (India), and Wanaherang (Indonesia).

Although grouped under the banner Mercedes-Benz M-Class since the launch, BMW, who had the model M3, refused car badged “M” and three engine-digit level later (eg M 320). This forced Mercedes-Benz to stay a double-tiered marketing strategy of “ML” edging (eg, ML 320) under the umbrella of Mercedes-Benz M-Class.

Mercedes-Benz M-Class 1st Generation (W163: 1997-2005)

The permanent Mercedes-Benz M-Class 4Matic four-wheel drive remained, by a single-speed case (and low range), a limited-slip difference four-wheel electronic traction system (4-ETS). In countries outside the US, the Off-Road Pro package institution and the difference in the rear Locks, 4- ETS, two-speed transfer case reduction Gearing, and adjustable ground clearance is available as an option to increase the original fording depth of 500 mm and 600 mm.

The Mercedes-Benz M-Class AMG version of the W164, the ML 63 AMG, was introduced at the 2006 North American International Auto Show as limited edition 2007 model. It features 6.2 L engine M156 V8 produces 510 hp (380 kW) -465 lb · ft (630 N · m) Handcrafted in Germany. The engine is added to an AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission. The 2006 ML 63 AMG can accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 km / h) just 4.8 seconds, or from 0-62 mph (100 km / h) just 5.0 seconds. Mercedes-Benz M-Class 3rd Generation (W166: 2011)

In 2006, development began the next-generation Mercedes-Benz M-Class and spanned a period of 5 years, a period shorter than its predecessor. The following month, Mercedes-Benz Indonesia began meeting M-Class at a factory in Wanaherang, West Java. These plants make the last cars shipped “knocked-down” kits from Tuscaloosa, USA. In the second half of 2015 a W166 face-lifted will not be released as a single, and the Coupe version. The current Popemobile is based on the 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class and was released in December 2012.
