The Mercedes-Benz M-Class (or Mercedes-Benz ML-Class) is a mid-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV), the model was introduced in 1997, 1998, and was built by the German automaker Mercedes-Benz. Gradually, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class became a sales success in the United States and Mexico. Increasingly, it is slotted between the smaller Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class (based on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class) and the larger Mercedes-Benz M-Class with which it shares platforms. For a brief time, between 1999 and 2002, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and built by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria, the European market, in the presence of all production moved to the US plant near Vance, Alabama. Since late 2012, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and gathered new plants in Pune (India), and Wanaherang (Indonesia).
Although grouped under the banner Mercedes-Benz M-Class since the launch, BMW, who had the model M3, refused car badged “M” and three engine-digit level later (eg M 320). This forced Mercedes-Benz to stay a double-tiered marketing strategy of “ML” edging (eg, ML 320) under the umbrella of Mercedes-Benz M-Class.
From 2015, when the release of the face-lifted W166 model is the third generation at the New York Auto Show in April, the Mercedes-Benz M-Class will be renamed to Mercedes-Benz single-Class as per the revised domestic brand received. Mercedes-Benz M-Class 1st Generation (W163: 1997-2005)
Mercedes-Benz proposed a plan to replace the Mercedes-Benz M-Class, at that time had been in production for 11 years. The agreement with the Mitsubishi Motors to develop and produce sports-utility vehicle was made in early 1991 and was confirmed publicly that June. Design work started in late 1992 to 1994. The design from Mercedes’ Sindelfingen studio was elected in 1993 and approved by the executive board in February 1994. The patents design was in Germany on July 13, 1994, and the US on January 13, 1995. Pilot production began in May 1996. Mercedes-Benz launched the first generation W163 series Mercedes-Benz M-Class on February 19, 1997, in the United States in the year 1998 model, and sales are beginning to September. It is a mid-sized body-on-frame SUV and seating for five, seven or an optional third-row seat. New features in the 2006 M-Class include the 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission, optional Active Curve-making Bi-Xenon headlights “steer ‘the way of the car, and adjustable-height air suspension. Transfer of manual has been dropped. The permanent Mercedes-Benz M-Class 4Matic four-wheel drive remained, by a single-speed case (and low range), a limited-slip difference four-wheel electronic traction system (4-ETS). In countries outside the US, the Off-Road Pro package institution and the difference in the rear Locks, 4- ETS, two-speed transfer case reduction Gearing, and adjustable ground clearance is available as an option to increase the original fording depth of 500 mm and 600 mm.
The Mercedes-Benz M-Class AMG version of the W164, the ML 63 AMG, was introduced at the 2006 North American International Auto Show as limited edition 2007 model. It features 6.2 L engine M156 V8 produces 510 hp (380 kW) -465 lb · ft (630 N · m) Handcrafted in Germany. The engine is added to an AMG Speedshift 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission. The 2006 ML 63 AMG can accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 km / h) just 4.8 seconds, or from 0-62 mph (100 km / h) just 5.0 seconds. These features are impressive ML 63 AMG the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 SUV in the world.
Mercedes-Benz M-Class 3rd Generation (W166: 2011)
In 2006, development began the next-generation Mercedes-Benz M-Class and spanned a period of 5 years, a period shorter than its predecessor. In 2008, the final design by Daniel Sarki was approved and patented domestically and in December 16, 2008 (US design patent filed on June 15, 2009). The newly re-M-class (W166 chassis) was introduced in the form of pre-production 10 June 2011 as 2012. The W166 is the first customer-designated rolled off the Tuscaloosa production line on 20 July. It is moderately refined, taking styling cues from the new generation of Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The increase in rear seat legroom is wired, the side of the rear adjustable back rests. New features in the 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class include the new 7G-Tronic Plus seven-speed automatic transmission to provide improved fuel economy, the optional Adaptive Cruise Control (Distronic Plus), Active Lane departure Warning System, and adjustable-height air suspension (AirMatic). An active curve system with active anti-roll bars of body roll compensation was established.
An On & Off Road Package is available in most markets as of the model year 2013. The package adds a two-speed dual range Magna Powertrain transfer the case to a difference in the lock, limiting ourselves up, underbody skid plates, and the world selectable system program 6-mode driving. The rear lock has been discontinued. Open the front and rear differentials are, and use the four-wheel electronic traction system (4-ETS) to mimic the front and rear differential lock. Mercedes-Benz India established a manufacturing plant in Chakan, Pune in early 2009 that rolled out the first W166 M-Class to be built outside the USA in October 2012. The following month, Mercedes-Benz Indonesia began meeting M-Class at a factory in Wanaherang, West Java. These plants make the last cars shipped “knocked-down” kits from Tuscaloosa, USA. In the second half of 2015 a W166 face-lifted will not be released as a single, and the Coupe version. The current Popemobile is based on the 2012 Mercedes-Benz M-Class and was released in December 2012.
