The 2014 Acura TL is a mid-size sport sedan that is sized and priced between the level of traditional entry-and medium-sized luxury sedan segment. As such, it competes with a range of models, but is most closely aligned with the Audi A4, Hyundai Genesis, Infiniti Q50, Lexus, Lincoln MKZ and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
Three 2014 Acura TL trim level are available: TL, TL Special Edition and the 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive). The Special Edition has 18-inch single. aluminum wheels, a rear spoiler, keyless access system with push button start and contrast stitching for the leather seats. The 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD version adds a more powerful engine, all-wheel drive (AWD), hill start assist, and aggressive tires.
2014 Acura TL Features
The 2014 Acura TL base and the 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD can be further improved with a technology package and a package Advance. The technology package includes premium leather seats, a navigation system, AcuraLink traffic and weather in real time, rearview camera, premium audio system, keyless entry with push button start, solar detection and control system climate and connected by GPS, and a rear spoiler part. Advance package includes heated and ventilated front seats and a blind spot information system.
2014 Acura TL Engine
The 3.5-liter V-6 installed in the 2014 Acura TL and 2014 Acura TL Special Edition is rated to generate 280 horsepower, delivered to the front wheels of the car through a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and Grade Logic Control quality. The most powerful 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD has a 305 horsepower, the engine of 3.7 liter V-6 and the torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Acura traction system, which can provide up to 80% of production motor to one of the rear wheels, depending on driving conditions. This transmission has the same 6-speed automatic transmission described above, and a manual gearbox 6-speed is optional for the 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD with the technology package.
The two drivers of the 2014 Acura TL models require premium fuel. The 3.5-liter V-6 series is rated by the EPA to return 20 mpg city and 29 mpg on the highway, while fuel economy estimates of the 2014 Acura TL SH-AWD model are 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Choose the manual gearbox and figures for the SH-AWD fall by mpg each.
2014 Acura TL Safety
In tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2014 Acura TL was given an overall rating of 4 stars (out of 5 stars). Note that in the collision before testing the degree of protection for the front seat passenger is three stars and in the side impact test the degree of protection for the driver is a three star.
In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) 2014 Acura TLreceives a rating of “Top Safety Pick”, one of the few models in its segment to do so. According to the test guidelines IIHS, Acura had offered a frontal collision prevention system of some sort, 2014 Acura TL would have received a “Top Safety Pick +” rating. Speaking of safety features, apart from a rearview camera and a blind-spot information system, the 2014 Acura TL is not available with modern technologies that are increasingly common not only for luxury vehicles, but also for traditional models, such as a warning of the pre-collision system, involuntary departure crossing warning system, rear cross traffic alert system and more.
